Limoncello After Dark

Summer on the coast
Lemon blossom in the air
Strangers holding hands
At the start of their affair
I watch the sun go down
Like it did on my heart
No where left to go
But limoncello after dark

Watching the local men
Wondering what it’d be like
To pick one of them up
Take them to my bed tonight
But I watch the sun go down
And ease my broken heart
Sitting on the coast
With limoncello after dark

Lovers on the beach
Walking hand in hand
I watch them disappear
Down amongst the sand
Do you remember once
Back then at the start
You took me by the hand
And then we drank limoncello after dark

Summers passing on
The lemon blossoms no longer there
Strangers shouting in the street
At the end of their affair
The sun is finally setting
Like it did on my heart
No I’ve only memories
Of limoncello after dark

Raindrops

Raindrops falling on an old tin roof
Playing out that familiar tune
Coffee brewing on the kitchen stove
We’re dancing by the light of the moon
Make a wish on a falling star
Watch it travel across the sky
Aint no reason for what I’m thinking
But I can’t help myself wondering why

Children playing down by the pond
Summer birds singing in the trees
Mothers in gardens hanging up washing
That man of mine down on his knees
He got me so I find myself wishing
Hoping to God I don’t start to cry
Aint no reason for what I’m thinking
But I can’t help myself wondering why

The dogs are barking outside our window
Your chest moves up and down as you sleep
Baby kicking I can’t get no comfort
I watch whilst I can’t get no sleep
When I do I find myself dreaming
Of you and me dancing through the night
Aint no reason for what I’m thinking
But I can’t help myself wondering why

Raindrops falling on an old tin roof
Playing out that familiar tune
Coffee brewing on the kitchen stove
We’re dancing by the light of the moon
I made a wish on a falling star
Watched it travel across the sky
Aint no reason for what I’m thinking
But I can’t help myself wondering why

All Alone

You’re lying up there,
I’m sitting down here,
(All alone).
Like two satellites,
That pass in the night,
(All alone).
Where once we were one,
Now you say we are done,
(All alone).

I climb to the top of the stairs,
At the end of the night,
And listen outside our door.
You’re crying to yourself,
I know you don’t want me,
Lying next to you anymore.

Slowly I creep back downstairs,
To my nightly silent vigil,
In front of the TV set.
Laughing faces there taunting me,
As I drain from the glass,
Hoping at the bottom I’ll forget.

You’re lying up there,
I’m sitting down here,
(All alone).
Like two satellites,
That pass in the night,
(All alone).
Where once we were one,
Now you say we are done,
(All alone).

Remember it wasn’t always like this,
The good time when we laughed,
Young lovers our bodies entwined.
We’d dance to each others tune,
Talk until the morning sun,
Back when you were mine.

Remember the evenings we’d drive,
To the top of Harshill bank,
And sit in the backseat of your car.
Two young lovers all alone,
We didn’t need no one else,
As we lay beneath the stars.

You’re lying up there,
I’m sitting down here,
(All alone).
Like two satellites,
That pass in the night,
(All alone).
Where once we were one,
Now you say we are done,
(All alone).

Now the sun is rising,
The dawn chorus begins to sing,
Heralding in another lonely day,
Where we’ll dance our dance,
Together but on our own,
Talking but with nothing left to say.

Teacher in Training

Met a girl at school and I fell in love,
Standing there at the front of my class,
She was talking but I wasn’t listening,
Saying something about Pythagoras.

As the bell went I built up my courage,
Walking slowly forward towards her lips,
I said baby could you tell me your name,
She said sure honey you can call me Miss!

She’s a TEACHER IN TRAINING,
To educate young minds,
She’s a TEACHER IN TRAINING,
No teacher ever looked so fine,
She’s a TEACHER IN TRAINING,
Knows about volcanoes and major fault lines,
She’s a TEACHER IN TRAINING,
And I wish she was mine.

Everywhere I went she was there,
In my classes and the dinner queue,
Even at the side of the football pitch,
She was chasing me round school.

She’s a TEACHER IN TRAINING,
To educate young minds,
She’s a TEACHER IN TRAINING,
No teacher ever looked so fine,
She’s a TEACHER IN TRAINING,
Knows about volcanoes and major fault lines,
She’s a TEACHER IN TRAINING,
And I wish she was mine.

I’ve got a job now with a fast food chain,
You know the one where the Colonel works,
When I go home the little lady complains,
Now you understand what school was for.

I say sure baby I should of listened to you,
She says I know honey as she kisses my lips,
I pick her up and I take her to bed,
Tomorrow the boys will be calling her Miss.

She’s a TEACHER IN TRAINING,
To educate young minds,
She’s a TEACHER IN TRAINING,
No teacher ever looked so fine,
She’s a TEACHER IN TRAINING,
Knows about volcanoes and major fault lines,
She’s a TEACHER IN TRAINING,
And she’s mine.

She’s a TEACHER IN TRAINING,
To educate young minds,
She’s a TEACHER IN TRAINING,
No teacher ever looked so fine,

Ginny Weasley

I met her out dancing on a Saturday night,
A flame haired vixen who set my world alight,
Talking to a boy standing by the bar,
Who’d been looking for me since I sold him my car.

She said she didn’t like Harry Potter,
Said she thought it was all a joke,
Said she’d never smoked marijuana,
The only thing she did was coke,
She said she liked to dress up at night,
Told me she wanted to please me,
I never did like Harry Potter,
But she looked just like Ginny Weasley.

Tapped her on the shoulder asked her to dance,
Promised her I wasn’t looking for romance
She looked me up and down then turned away,
That was before I proceeded to say,

Won’t you baby dance with me tonight?
I got a little problem only you can put it right,
I got a fixation and to tell you the truth,
The only way to solve it is to dance with you.

She said she didn’t like Harry Potter,
Said she thought it was all a joke,
Said she’d never smoked marijuana,
The only thing she did was coke,
She said she liked to dress up at night,
Told me she wanted to please me,
I never did like Harry Potter,
But she looked just like Ginny Weasley.

At the end of the night I decided to impress her,
So I took her for a kebab and a bottle of Tizer,
We kissed on a corner as I walked her home,
Two drunks together not wanting to be alone.

That kiss for me didn’t move heaven or earth,
I was too drunk to notice for what it was worth,
We stumbled inside as night turned to day,
And she got me upstairs before she blew me away.

She said she didn’t like Harry Potter,
Said she thought it was all a joke,
Said she’d never smoked marijuana,
The only thing she did was coke,
She said she liked to dress up at night,
Told me she wanted to please me,
I never did like Harry Potter,
But she looked just like Ginny Weasley.

She said she didn’t like Harry Potter,
Said she thought it was all a joke,
Said she’d never smoked marijuana,
The only thing she did was coke,
She said she liked to dress up at night,
Told me she wanted to please me,
I never did like Harry Potter,
But she looked just like Ginny Weasley.

Now I’m lying here some girl by my side,
Trying to remember what happened last night,
All I can recall was I was dancing with you,
Then you hugged me and said we were through.

What was his name the bastard by your side?
Jackson, Hugh kissing you last night,
He’s not the one for you, you have to believe me,
I love you and I just want you to love me.

She said she didn’t like Harry Potter,
Said she thought it was all a joke,
Said she’d never smoked marijuana,
The only thing she did was coke,
She said she liked to dress up at night,
Told me she wanted to please me,
I never did like Harry Potter,
But she looked just like Ginny Weasley.
