Cool Winds

Lazy Sunday morning,
And the realisation is dawning,
What’s it going to give to me now?
Love’s on the back burner,
Life seems a little longer,
What’ it going to give to me now?

Give me back a piece of my heart,
It’s all that I’m asking for now.
All I need is a nudge at the start,
And maybe I’ll get her back now.

Smiles are fading,
Life’s hard I’m finding,
Maybe I’ll make it work this time.
Love’s a perfect stranger,
Always a sense of danger,
Maybe I’ll make it work this time.

Give me a warm and tender heart,
To beat in step with mine,
Give me a promise we’ll never part,
Help me make it this time.

Cool winds are blowing,
Love’s no way of knowing,
What it’s got in store for me?
I’m not here waiting,
My feelings aren’t changing,
What’s it got in store for me?

Give me a little piece of luck,
Give me hope when all else fails,
Give me a lover’s touch,
And I’ll be the wind in her sails.

Songs are getting longer,
My loneliness gets stronger,
What’s it going to give to me now?
Love is a barricade,
Promises to be made,
What’s it going to give to me now?

What’s it going to give to me now?

What Can I Do?

As I look down at this empty glass,
There’s a million questions I want to ask.
Where are you?
Are you with him?
The barman’s waiting to shut the door,
Ignores my pleas for just one more,
I go home,
Alone again!

I make my way to my empty room,
With memories of you your cheap perfume,
All alone,
I go to bed.
I feel the emptiness by my side,
The consequences of foolish pride,
I’d take back,
What I said.

I aint gonna lie to you,
You broke my heart,
All I do is cry for you,
Since we broke apart,
I aint gonna lie to you,
I’m missing you,
All I do is cry for you,
What can I do?

Is he in your bed does he take my place
When you wake up do you see his face?
Does he smile?
Like I used to!
It’s hard to think of you with another man,
I’ve tried to forget as much as I can,
I can’t let go,
I know of you.

I aint gonna lie to you,
You broke my heart,
All I do is cry for you,
Since we broke apart,
I aint gonna lie to you,
I’m missing you,
All I do is cry for you,
What can I do?

You weren’t the first but I hoped the last,
My salvation absolution for my past,
But it was not,
Destined to be.
So I sit in this bedsit all alone,
My broken heart all that I own,
All you left,
When you left me.

A bottle of wine to start my day,
On my answer phone my friends say,
Can we help?
Where are you?
I’m at the bottom of a well looking up,
Know I won’t survive without your touch,
So far away,
What can I do?

I aint gonna lie to you,
You broke my heart,
All I do is cry for you,
Since we broke apart,
I aint gonna lie to you,
I’m missing you,
All I do is cry for you,
What can I do?

All The Girls

Sometimes I like to think,
As I pour myself a drink,
Of all the girls that I’ve ever known,
Back when I was younger,
And I thought myself a lover,
Way before I heard of mobile phones.

There was Rosie with her cider,
Little Lucy she was a fighter,
And Caroline with her flame red hair.
There was Janie with her gun,
I thought Claire could be the one,
And Jenny who was just always there.

Way back in nineteen ninety three,
The world looked so good to me,
I was young happy I was out of school.
We’d drive out in our cars,
Spend the night underneath the stars,
Gathered round everyone playing the fool.

We’d go from passing round the smokes,
To spin the bottle and dirty jokes,
Before disappearing into the night.
With a lover on your arm,
Only each other to keep you warm,
Lying there together in the night.

There was Rosie with her cider,
Little Lucy she was a fighter,
And Caroline with her flame red hair.
There was Janie with her gun,
I thought Claire could be the one,
And Jenny who was just always there.

And to each and every one,
I miss you know you’re gone,
I wonder where you are tonight.
Without you I wouldn’t be,
The man in the mirror that I see,
Dreaming of you when I turn out the light.

Now as I lie back on my bed,
There’s a thought inside my head,
That I’d like to see all those girls again.
I wonder where they are today,
Are they dreaming of yesterdays,
Wishing it was like it was back then.

There was Rosie with her cider,
Little Lucy she was a fighter,
And Caroline with her flame red hair.
There was Janie with her gun,
I thought Claire could be the one,
And Jenny who was just always there.

There was Rosie with her cider,
Little Lucy she was a fighter,
And Caroline with her flame red hair.
There was Janie with her gun,
I thought Claire could be the one,
And Jenny who was just always there.

And to each and every one,
I miss you know you’re gone,
I wonder where you are tonight.
Without you I wouldn’t be,
The man in the mirror that I see,
Dreaming of you when I turn out the light.

The World of Big Brother

In every way we’re taught to learn,
Taught to give more than we take,
From the day that we are born,
We’re told to live and live to hate.
And then we’re told everyday,
How we should think for ourselves,
But we’re policed in every way,
What to drink it’s for your health.

No more steamy love affairs,
Just a succession of nameless lovers,
Nobody left who’s left to care,
Welcome to the world of Big Brother!

Once out there you look around,
Now too scared where you felt safe,
Then suddenly you here a sound,
Who is there don’t stop to wait.
Might have been a cry for help,
Don’t slow down next it could be you,
Ignore the scream for your health,
Don’t look around don’t be a fool.

No more talking in the street,
Hearing about the troubles of her mother,
Everybody’s to scared to meet,
Welcome to the world of Big Brother!

Get back home you shut the door,
Turn the key lock out the world,
You’re alone safe once more,
How it should be forget the girl.
There’s a poll they circulated,
Proved to you, you need no one,
But a hole you have penetrated,
What to do when you’ve got no one?

No more steamy love affairs,
Just a succession of nameless lovers,
Nobody left who’s left to care,
Welcome to the world of Big Brother!

All the rules sent from on high,
What to eat and what to drink,
Are we fools to not ask why,
Who to meet even what to think!
When did we lose they take over,
All our lives run by their rules,
No right to choose anymore,
Though we moan we’re the fools.

No more talking in the street,
Hearing about the troubles of her mother,
Everybody’s to scared to meet,
Welcome to the world of Big Brother!

No more steamy love affairs,
Just a succession of nameless lovers,
Nobody left who’s left to care,
Welcome to the world of Big Brother!
