The World of Big Brother

In every way we’re taught to learn,
Taught to give more than we take,
From the day that we are born,
We’re told to live and live to hate.
And then we’re told everyday,
How we should think for ourselves,
But we’re policed in every way,
What to drink it’s for your health.

No more steamy love affairs,
Just a succession of nameless lovers,
Nobody left who’s left to care,
Welcome to the world of Big Brother!

Once out there you look around,
Now too scared where you felt safe,
Then suddenly you here a sound,
Who is there don’t stop to wait.
Might have been a cry for help,
Don’t slow down next it could be you,
Ignore the scream for your health,
Don’t look around don’t be a fool.

No more talking in the street,
Hearing about the troubles of her mother,
Everybody’s to scared to meet,
Welcome to the world of Big Brother!

Get back home you shut the door,
Turn the key lock out the world,
You’re alone safe once more,
How it should be forget the girl.
There’s a poll they circulated,
Proved to you, you need no one,
But a hole you have penetrated,
What to do when you’ve got no one?

No more steamy love affairs,
Just a succession of nameless lovers,
Nobody left who’s left to care,
Welcome to the world of Big Brother!

All the rules sent from on high,
What to eat and what to drink,
Are we fools to not ask why,
Who to meet even what to think!
When did we lose they take over,
All our lives run by their rules,
No right to choose anymore,
Though we moan we’re the fools.

No more talking in the street,
Hearing about the troubles of her mother,
Everybody’s to scared to meet,
Welcome to the world of Big Brother!

No more steamy love affairs,
Just a succession of nameless lovers,
Nobody left who’s left to care,
Welcome to the world of Big Brother!

Children

Searching through the rubbish for a bottle top,
There’s pain in this world we have to stop,
There’s children dying in the city streets,
Whilst we sit here with too much to eat!

I know that I’ve been a victim of,
A world where we all sought love,
But I’ve got the power to make that change.
No matter what I have to do,
Even if I have to start out new,
I have to try we have to ease their pain.

It all starts with the man inside,
The one who has to conquer pride,
We have a chance to make a better place,
But in the mirror we have to face,

What we’ve got,
Would we give up,
To help that boy or girl.
Is it there within us,
To act on our love,
We could change the world.

The children swallowed by war,
No idea what they’re fighting for,
All they want is a roof for the night,
Somewhere safe to escape the fight.

I’ve got a chance to stop the pain,
Now matter how we’ve got to change,
Tell me what will happen to them?
We have a duty to all their souls,
To help their fight to give our all,
For the chance for them to live again!

It all starts with the man inside,
The one who has to conquer pride,
We have a chance to make a better place,
But in the mirror we have to face,

What we’ve got,
Would we give up,
To help that boy or girl.
Is it there within us,
To act on our love,
We could change the world.

When I go to sleep in my bed at night,
I think of the children and their fight,
Just to live as if they were one of us,
To remember the power of love!

It all starts with the man inside,
The one who has to conquer his pride,
We have a chance to make a better place,
But in the mirror we have to face,

What we’ve got,
Would we give up,
To help that boy or girl.
Is it there within us,
To act on our love,
We could change the world.

Good Enough

I was you son,
I would have done,
Almost anything you wanted me to do.
I wanted love,
Simply because,
I needed to know what I meant to you,

Nothing’s ever going to be good enough,
No matter what I do,
Nothing’s ever going to be good enough,
Can’t you see that’s it’s true,
Nothing’s ever going to be good enough,
Father for you!

O father please,
I’m on my knees,
Please believe me I did no wrong.
I sang the words,
To avoid the hurt,
All is forgotten when I sing the song.

There’s an escape,
I forget the hate,
There’s nothing there except me and the crowd.
But back again,
To the house of pain,
Nobody there to hear me scream out loud!

Nothing’s ever going to be good enough,
No matter what I do,
Nothing’s ever going to be good enough,
Can’t you see that’s it’s true,
Nothing’s ever going to be good enough,
Father for you!

I’m a man now,
No matter how,
I must learn to live my life all alone.
And your mistakes,
Brought on by hate,
I must forget to live life on my own.

Nothing’s ever going to be good enough,
No matter what I do,
Nothing’s ever going to be good enough,
Can’t you see that’s it’s true,
Nothing’s ever going to be good enough,
Father for you!

Now father please,
You have to believe,
There’s a life for me without you.
I can survive,
Live my own life,
And I will no matter what you do.

Nothing’s ever going to be good enough,
No matter what I do,
Nothing’s ever going to be good enough,
Can’t you see that’s it’s true,
Nothing’s ever going to be good enough,
Father for you!

Met Myself Me

I met myself the three bears,
And little red riding hood,
I met myself the Dark Lord,
And knew he was up to no good.

I met myself so many people,
From myth to celebrity,
But most of all I met myself,
I met myself me!

I met myself King Arthur,
And his knights of the round table,
I met myself brave Hercules,
Read each of those Greek fables.

I met myself a superhero,
Met myself St George,
I met myself that preacher man,
Memorised his every word!

I met myself so many people,
From myth to celebrity,
But most of all I met myself,
I met myself me!

I met myself a red headed girl,
At the end of science fiction,
I met myself her mother,
As we were kissing in her kitchen!

I met myself many teachers,
Who taught me about life,
I met myself a lover,
Who became my wife.

I met myself so many people,
From myth to celebrity,
But most of all I met myself,
I met myself me!

Yesterdays

Condensation on the bottle,
On the table in front of me,
It’s slowly being emptied,
Disappearing like you and me.
Where once we had a future,
Now all I see is the past,
Like looking in a mirror,
And all you see is glass,

I dream of yesterdays too often,
Now that you are gone,
I think about what might have been,
Wonder if you were the one.
I dream about what will come to be,
Or are they just nightmares,
I think about what could have been,
But you’re no longer there.

I stumble through the front door,
Of the home we used to share,
The emptiness bears down upon me,
Like waves breaking on the shore.
Each room seems so empty since,
You decided to walk away,
I feel like a little boy,
Who’s forgotten how to play.

I dream of yesterdays too often,
Now that you are gone,
I think about what might have been,
Wonder if you were the one.
I dream about what will come to be,
Or are they just nightmares,
I think about what could have been,
But you’re no longer there.

The clock ticks on the mantelpiece,
Counting out the time,
Each second I watch passing,
Is a second since you were mine.
My friends all try to tell me,
That I should learn to move on,
But how can they understand,
What it means now you’re gone.

I dream of yesterdays too often,
Now that you are gone,
I think about what might have been,
Wonder if you were the one.
I dream about what will come to be,
Or are they just nightmares,
I think about what could have been,
But you’re no longer there.
