Good Enough

I was you son,
I would have done,
Almost anything you wanted me to do.
I wanted love,
Simply because,
I needed to know what I meant to you,

Nothing’s ever going to be good enough,
No matter what I do,
Nothing’s ever going to be good enough,
Can’t you see that’s it’s true,
Nothing’s ever going to be good enough,
Father for you!

O father please,
I’m on my knees,
Please believe me I did no wrong.
I sang the words,
To avoid the hurt,
All is forgotten when I sing the song.

There’s an escape,
I forget the hate,
There’s nothing there except me and the crowd.
But back again,
To the house of pain,
Nobody there to hear me scream out loud!

Nothing’s ever going to be good enough,
No matter what I do,
Nothing’s ever going to be good enough,
Can’t you see that’s it’s true,
Nothing’s ever going to be good enough,
Father for you!

I’m a man now,
No matter how,
I must learn to live my life all alone.
And your mistakes,
Brought on by hate,
I must forget to live life on my own.

Nothing’s ever going to be good enough,
No matter what I do,
Nothing’s ever going to be good enough,
Can’t you see that’s it’s true,
Nothing’s ever going to be good enough,
Father for you!

Now father please,
You have to believe,
There’s a life for me without you.
I can survive,
Live my own life,
And I will no matter what you do.

Nothing’s ever going to be good enough,
No matter what I do,
Nothing’s ever going to be good enough,
Can’t you see that’s it’s true,
Nothing’s ever going to be good enough,
Father for you!
