The Dogs

There’s a song I ask each night,
To the DJ to dedicate for me,
It was our song once upon a time,
When my memories were our reality.
We’d lie on the back seat of your car,
The Dogs playing on the radio,
Our love was written in the stars,
They said we’d never let each other go.

You’re my satellite kid.
And I was your first,
I had nothing to give,
But an empty purse.
I would have given my life,
It was more than teenage show,
I wanted you to be my wife,
As our song played on the radio.

That summer we never spent apart,
We were in love all summer long,
I gave you a little piece of my heart,
As on the radio they played our song.
There we’d be on the back seat of your car,
The Dogs playing on the radio,
Our love was written in the stars,
Said we’d never let each other go.

You’re my satellite kid.
And I was your first,
I had nothing to give,
But an empty purse.
I would have given my life,
It was more than teenage show,
I wanted you to be my wife,
As our song played on the radio.

I used to call you my Satellite Kid,
You said I’d be your Mr Barfly,
But the promises that we once gave,
Lie broken do you also wonder why?
Do you remember the back seat of your car,
The Dogs playing on the radio,
What happened to what was in the stars,
I thought you’d never let me go.

You’re my satellite kid.
And I was your first,
I had nothing to give,
But an empty purse.
I would have given my life,
It was more than teenage show,
I wanted you to be my wife,
As our song played on the radio.

Now many years have gone and past,
My life has changed and yours has to,
But do you ever think back to those days,
When all that mattered was me and you?
We’d be alone in you car,
The Dogs playing on the radio,
We’d lie back looking at the stars,
I thought I’d never let you go.

You’re my satellite kid.
And I was your first,
I had nothing to give,
But an empty purse.
I would have given my life,
It was more than teenage show,
I wanted you to be my wife,
As our song played on the radio.
