Blood Not Peace

Riots on the city streets,
Politicians are calling out,
Shop fronts burning,
Sending out a warning,
You’re here we can’t keep you out.

But who’s there for the man,
Your soldiers meet in the night,
Politics with a fist,
Your beliefs are not his,
Are they reasons to carry on the fight?

BLOOD NOT PEACE
I hear your battle cry,
But they’re my brothers,
I will not join your fight,
BLOOD NOT PEACE
You shout to declare war,
But I ask of you,
Who are you fighting for?

Staring back from my TV set,
You tell the world you’ve gone legit,
Come on vote for me,
I’m here to save the country,
But all I see is a piece of.

BLOOD NOT PEACE
I hear your battle cry,
But they’re my brothers,
I will not join your fight,
BLOOD NOT PEACE
You shout to declare war,
But I ask of you,
Who are you fighting for?

Looking around I’m scared to think,
What would be if you got your way,
For you one country,
Built on your history,
And all the rest they get sent away.

But what if we stood together,
Decided to stand up to you,
Denouncing your cause,
All that you fight for,
Tell me what would you do?

BLOOD NOT PEACE
I hear your battle cry,
But they’re my brothers,
I will not join your fight,
BLOOD NOT PEACE
You shout to declare war,
But I ask of you,
Who are you fighting for?

BLOOD NOT PEACE
I hear your battle cry,
But they’re my brothers,
I will not join your fight,
BLOOD NOT PEACE
You shout to declare war,
But I ask of you,
Who are you fighting for?

NOT ME!

London Town

Underneath the bustle,
Of the city that never sleeps,
Children are crying in doorways,
Trying to survive on the streets,
They come searching for a dream,
Some simply for a better life,
But no matter where they come from,
They’ll be the victims tonight.

Pretty little houses,
They’ve gone away,
Sitting in a concrete jungle,
That’s here to stay.
No smiles on any faces,
As I look around,
Everybody’s busy,
Welcome to London town.

Gunfire pierces the stillness,
There’s a vendetta in the air,
Be careful who you look at,
You might just start a war,
The police are losing the battle,
Our streets now ruled by gangs,
And if you ever cross them,
All you’ll hear is bang bang.

Pretty little houses,
They’ve gone away,
Sitting in a concrete jungle,
That’s here to stay.
No smiles on any faces,
As I look around,
Everybody’s busy,
Welcome to London town.

Pretty little boys,
Trying to look like the girls,
Looking for their big break,
To be known by the world,
They’re all able and willing,
To do whatever you say,
As long as you can promise them,
There fifteen minutes of fame.

Pretty little houses,
They’ve gone away,
Sitting in a concrete jungle,
That’s here to stay.
No smiles on any faces,
As I look around,
Everybody’s busy,
Welcome to London town.

Do you want a souvenir?
There’s opportunity on every street,
There’ll all looking at you wallet,
Every single person that you meet,
They’re looking for the advantage,
For a way to tuck you up,
Cockney charm is disappearing,
As we’re invaded by the buck.

Pretty little houses,
They’ve gone away,
Sitting in a concrete jungle,
That’s here to stay.
No smiles on any faces,
As I look around,
Everybody’s busy,
Welcome to London town.

A Better Life

It’s cold in January on a cardboard mattress,
Dreaming dreams of yesterdays,
In her subconscious the world’s all right,
The bad things are happening far away.
Her Mama’s gone off to visit her sister,
She’s alone with her daddy tonight,
Sitting at the door he watches her undress,
She’s too afraid to switch of the light.

There’s a time and place for everything,
So they tell me on the radio,
The sun is shining everything’s all right,
But what do they really know.
There’s a world out there full of the forgotten,
Without a bed to sleep in tonight,
No matter how they got there their dreams are the same,
They’re all dreaming of a better life.

It’s cold and damp there in the doorway,
As he lays his head down to rest,
He can still remember all his friends’ faces,
When he told them he was off to the west.
Bittersweet thoughts are lacing his memories,
The tears rolling down his mother’s face,
He packed in his job got onto the first train,
Believing he was going to a better place.

There’s a time and place for everything,
So they tell me on the radio,
The sun is shining everything’s all right,
But what do they really know.
There’s a world out there full of the forgotten,
Without a bed to sleep in tonight,
No matter how they got there their dreams are the same,
They’re all dreaming of a better life.

The men are fighting down in the subway,
And the little boy he finds it hard to hide,
His sisters crying scared by the raised voices,
All he can do is wipe the tear from her eye.
His father’s in prison her mother’s addicted,
The social services want to take them away,
They couldn’t promise they’d be living together,
So they packed their things and ran away.

There’s a time and place for everything,
So they tell me on the radio,
The sun is shining everything’s all right,
But what do they really know.
There’s a world out there full of the forgotten,
Without a bed to sleep in tonight,
No matter how they got there their dreams are the same,
They’re all dreaming of a better life.

There’s a time and place for everything,
So they tell me on the radio,
The sun is shining everything’s all right,
But what do they really know.
There’s a world out there full of the forgotten,
Without a bed to sleep in tonight,
No matter how they got there their dreams are the same,
They’re all dreaming of a better life.

Gods of the New Age

It’s Friday night and we’re hitting the town,
The clubs are all playing that retro sound,
We’re about to take our place in history,
A phenomenon we’re the next legacy.

We’re the gods of the new age,
Masters of your dreams,
We’re the gods of the new age,
Who you want to be,
We’re the gods of the new age,
Your dreams personified,
We’re the gods of the new age,
And you ask yourself why?

Hitting the dance floor at a quarter past midnight,
Checking out the girls checking out us tonight,
And as the DJ puts on our favourite song,
Each of us decides upon our lucky one.

We’re the gods of the new age,
Masters of your dreams,
We’re the gods of the new age,
Who you want to be,
We’re the gods of the new age,
Your dreams personified,
We’re the gods of the new age,
And you ask yourself why?

Falling out of the clubs onto the street,
Swearing at the paparazzi that we meet,
We’re here to inspire our fellow man,
Spread our loving as much as we can.

We’re the gods of the new age,
Masters of your dreams,
We’re the gods of the new age,
Who you want to be,
We’re the gods of the new age,
Your dreams personified,
We’re the gods of the new age,
And you ask yourself why?

We’ve got our pride and our reputation,
We’re the personified of our new nation,
The privileged elite the cream of the crop,
The girls start screaming and they just can’t stop.

We’re the gods of the new age,
Masters of your dreams,
We’re the gods of the new age,
Who you want to be,
We’re the gods of the new age,
Your dreams personified,
We’re the gods of the new age,
And you ask yourself why?

A band of brothers hitting the clubs,
Screaming fans just can’t get enough,
Each and everyone we ever had,
Left in the morning satisfied.

We’re the gods of the new age,
Masters of your dreams,
We’re the gods of the new age,
Who you want to be,
We’re the gods of the new age,
Your dreams personified,
We’re the gods of the new age,
And you ask yourself why?

Freak / Geek

There you sit at the front of my class,
I can’t concentrate I should be doing maths,
But all I can do is dream about you.
What am I thinking you’re the queen of the school,
And I’m just a geek acting the fool.

It’s time to go home the school bell is ringing,
I cross the school yard what am I thinking,
How could it be you’d look at me?
I call out your name hear myself ask for a date,
I’m just a freak you’re friends all laugh in my face.

I’M A GEEK
I like Babylon 5,
I’M A FREAK
I like getting high,
I’M A FREAK
I dress all in black,
I’M A GEEK
I can recite Kerouac
But that’s not all I am,
Inside I’m still a man.

It’s Saturday night we’re all at the disco,
I look at you how could you ever know,
All that I feel but to you I’m not real.
I’m just the boy from who you copy chemistry,
I’m just a geek vainly hoping you’ll notice me.

Outside it’s dark I see you walking home,
You smile at me is it because we’re all alone,
Could it be true you feel as I do?
Then you’re caught up by the boy from the football team,
Get lost you freak I here him calling to me.

I’M A FREAK
Who’s never been kissed,
I’M AGEEK
Who gets off on playing Risk,
I’M A GEEK
Who knows about Calculus,
I’M A FREAK
I’ve never been one of us,
But that’s not all I am,
Inside I’m still a man.

I turn the corner walking away from school,
There you are asking me why I’m such a fool,
Why did you go I didn’t say no?
Take me by the hand walk with me away from here,
Call me a freak but I like the geek,
Who’s standing here.

(Then she said)

There’s a freak,
Trying to get out of me,
I’m a geek,
I like Gene Rodenberry,
You’re a geek
And I don’t care what my friends say,
We’ll be freaks,
Together no matter what they say.

WE’LL BE FREAKS

Valentino's

Joanie dances for money,
She’s trying not to miss a trick,
Because nobody cares anymore,
That little Tommy’s sick.
He got himself a fever,
And the doctor he won’t come,
Until Joanie’s got the money,
So she dances for her son.

What do you see
In the bottom of that glass,
Salvation, redemption,
Or echoes of the past?
Whatever your troubles,
There’s only one place to go,
Join our congregation,
Down at Valentino’s.

Danny picks up the bottle,
To drink his sorrows away,
His girl’s gone and left him,
And all his lady would say.
Is that she’s got another man,
Who says he’ll treat her right,
Something’s have to be better,
Because all we did was fight.

What do you see
In the bottom of that glass,
Salvation, redemption,
Or echoes of the past?
Whatever your troubles,
There’s only one place to go,
Join our congregation,
Down at Valentino’s.

Through the door walks the lady,
Who wants to leave but has to stay,
She’s got nowhere else to go,
Since the government took her job away.
The banks took back her home,
Her children now reside in care,
And when she returns home at night,
Her lover’s no longer there.

What do you see
In the bottom of that glass,
Salvation, redemption,
Or echoes of the past?
Whatever your troubles,
There’s only one place to go,
Join our congregation,
Down at Valentino’s.

No one asks you your story,
Because they’ve each got one of their own,
Telling of heartbreaks and failures,
Reasons why they’re all alone,
It’s just a place where the lonely go,
Somewhere to spend the night,
To forget they’ve got no one,
When they turn out the light.

What do you see
In the bottom of that glass,
Salvation, redemption,
Or echoes of the past?
Whatever your troubles,
There’s only one place to go,
Join our congregation,
Down at Valentino’s.
