Cold

Cold coffee on the breakfast table,
Send her thoughts back to the night before,
Remember laughing with that football player,
As they came crashing through her door.
Close her eyes and she sees his smile,
He picked the music and they got it on,
Sweet words whispered I her ear,
But in the morning he was gone.

I know the pain,
That you’re going through,
Why did he leave?
What did you do?
Don’t look around,
You’ve got to move on,
When you wake up,
He has to be the one.
There is no point,
In trying to hide,
All it does,
Is leave you cold inside.

Cold pillow lying by her side,
On her bed seems so lonely now,
Her lover’s eyes gone for good,
Won’t be coming back to her now,
Feels the kisses he used to give,
And hugs the pillow in her arms,
Tomorrow night another bar,
Another man just to keep her warm.

I know the pain,
That you’re going through,
Why did he leave?
What did you do?
But he has left,
You’ve got to move on,
When you wake up,
He has to be the one.
There is no point,
In trying to hide,
All it does,
Is leave you cold inside.

Cold heart is all that’s beating now,
As she makes her way back to bed,
Sweet words don’t matter anymore,
All she wants is his touch instead.
A quick embrace then it’s done,
She rolls over and turns out the lights,
In the morning he’ll be gone,
And she still be scared of the night.
